Mission
Men In Dance (NDEO) was started to give national and international recognition to men who have contributed to and are engaged in progressing the legacy of dance education throughout the world. Our mission is to promote a true understanding of the male in dance and dance education. MID highlights the challenges that identifying as a male in dance has on the individual as well as the public at large. Rooted in personal stories from voices representing all gender expressions, we intend to build a presence that will encompass all that men have contributed to the world of dance education. MID wants to use this network to explore and support some of the challenges that men face when choosing dance and dance education as a profession. Heralding the successes and pinpointing the challenges are of equal importance to our trajectory as a support system that is based in principled and conscientious leadership and mentorship. Our online presence will be a resource for like-minded organizations, as well as a clearinghouse new ideas in dance education.
